Fraud and scams go hand in hand. One doesn’t come without the other. In fact, there are very few people in this world who haven’t been the victim of any kind of scam or fraud. Let us take a look at some of the biggest fraud and scams.
Lottery scams
These types of fraud and scams are becoming increasingly commonplace. According to Big Scammers, you will find pop ups ads cropping up on your screen while casually surfing the web. These ads will go on to declare you as the winner of a brand new iPhone or a trip to some exotic location in Europe. You should be very careful of such offers since nobody actually wins anything without first participating in a lottery. So the fact that the organization would randomly choose you as a winner among a billion other people is reason enough to feel suspicious about the whole deal.
The fraud doesn’t end there. In the promise of giving away your grand prize, the organizers of the lottery will ask you to pay a small processing fee which will be worth a few hundred dollars. Many people go through with it thinking that it is a small price to pay when they are actually getting to go on a all paid travel vacation which is worth thousands of dollars. Only finally do they realize that the whole thing was nothing but one of these fraud and scams you find on the internet.
End of the year sales
These sales are nothing but fraud and scams. First of all, the advertisements are very misleading. Most of them mention “up to 50% off”. Now the “up to” is written in such small fonts that most customers don’t even notice it. They go for the sale thinking that everything is available at half the price. In reality, the discount starts only from about 10%. A month before the stores go on sale, they increase the prices of the same items so that very few people buy them. Then the same prices are slashed and the “sale” starts.
Last year in the UK, Magnet and Homebase had increased prices of their stuff by 130%. This continued till Christmas and after that the prices were slashed.
Ladies toiletries and cosmetics
This is not a well-known fraud and scam. In fact, most people won’t even associate those words with toiletries. Common examples of toiletries include razors, moisturizers and deodorants.
Most brands make razors for both men and women. While the men’s’ razor is priced around $3, the women’s’ razor is priced at $4.49! Both of them have the same features – they come with aloe strips and two blades. So, why is there such a difference in prices?
It is the same with shaving gels. While for men it costs around $3.24 for a bottle of 200 ml, for women it costs around $4.76.
No brand has ever come with a justification for such discrepancy in prices.
Fraud and scams are everywhere. One just needs to keep their eyes and ears open and they will be saved.
