Fraud Reporting to the Appropriate Authorities

Fraud reporting will only be effective if the appropriate authorities receive it. There are online complaint resources out there that are not especially helpful when it comes to solving crimes related to Internet fraud. Before filing your fraud report, you must first check whether the website can help you in the long term. If not, it would be best to look for another site that will handle your complaint properly, such as government owned anti-fraud websites. Your efforts of fraud reporting will never be wasted if you seek the help of your government.
  • Fraud Reporting to the Right Group
A lot of fraud reporting resources have surfaced recently, usually owned by private groups and developers who have pure intentions of helping Internet fraud victims. Although these resources, such as Bigscammers.com, are great, if you have lost significant amounts of cash the online and/or offline facility provided by your government must also be notified. Your government has competent people who can take legal action for your complaint compared to those privately-owned online reporting resources that will only appease you by sharing your experience with other victims. At least, when you report to your local authorities, you can expect for a result in a matter of days, weeks, or even months. Although the waiting time may be a bit long, it will surely be worth the wait when you find the culprit to your misfortune.
  • Fraud Reporting to the FBI
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is one of the most trustworthy complaint resources you can make use of. The government has provided you with a group of experts that are more than willing to help you catch the one who scammed you. All you have to do is tell the Bureau the exact experience you had. Since every report received by the Bureau is treated equally, you can be sure that results will come afterwards, be it good or bad.

There are several ways of fraud reporting to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Of course, the first way is to go directly to their headquarters and personally take to and FBI agent that specializes in fraud cases. This way, you can clearly relay to the agent how you were scammed and what you want to do in case the fraudster is caught. Since the agents at the Bureau are well trained and probably have years of experience in solving fraud related crimes, you can get a handful of tips from them so that you will never become a victim again.

If you cannot personally do the fraud reporting to the FBI headquarters, you can also file your complaint online. Visit www.ic3.gov and you will see various tabs that you can use at the site. After filing your complaint at the site, you can read press releases and news that are related to fraud incidents currently by clicking the Press Room tab. From there, you may find similar issues and learn about other types of Internet fraud that you should be aware of. Since this online resource is made by the government for you, might as well use it to your advantage.
